Hey everyone. This is a cool video. We shot it from the longest porch in North America at the Grand Hotel  on Mackinac Island in northern Michigan. It was a dream trip for my mom (most of you know that she works for the dance studio.  I was excited to be able to take her. We even got to dance in the ballroom at the hotel every night. We were able to do a little rumba, cha cha, east coast swing and west coast swing.

We got to west coast swing and ballroom dance with live music every night!

Its been a busy time here in Louisville. The studio just hosted its Summer Student Showcase. It was awesome with lots of happy dancers. We are totally on track with the move of the week videos. Ok so I’m pretty pumped. After a few weeks of trial and error I finally upgraded my video camera and audio equipment for these weekly videos. I tried to figure out a hack for my iPhone so I could add a wireless mic but it didn’t work. (see the pic below as West Coast Swing DJ Louis St. George and I tried to figure out how to make it work. In the end I ended up buying a decent video camera and a killer wireless mic. I think the ability to zoom and the sound quality will make these videos much better!

I tried to figure out how to use a wireless mic with an iPhone but failed.

Hello West Coast Swing fanatics!

I hope everyone had a great week. We had a busy week at the studio with Michigan Classic coming up as well as our studio showcase on June 6th. I also snuck away to spend the weekend at Indy Swing bash where I got to teach a great 2 hour Advanced West Coast Swing workshop to a room full of dancers. It was a really enjoyable couple of hours for me. I got to share a lot of cool dance tips with everyone and there were lots of questions. Really! Can you believe that? I never get lots of questions. Very cool.

Well the Derby has just passed here in Louisville! Over 170,000 people attended the Derby this year and I was lucky to be one of them. It was a perfect day with beautiful weather!
